noncellular

Lacking cellular structure

Noncellular describes something not composed of or relating to cells.

In biology, viruses are noncellular—they lack the cellular structure of living organisms and can only replicate inside host cells.

The term also appears in telecommunications, where noncellular means not using cellular network technology: a noncellular wireless device.
