non-Roman
Like Greek letters
Non-Roman describes anything outside the sphere of ancient Rome or its empire—non-Roman peoples, non-Roman territories.
It also applies to typography: non-Roman scripts include Arabic, Chinese, and Cyrillic, while non-Roman typefaces are those that aren't in the standard upright style (as opposed to italic).
The document contained several non-Roman characters that wouldn't display properly.
