nerve fibre

Impulse transmission pathway

A nerve fibre is the long, threadlike extension of a nerve cell that conducts electrical impulses.

Also called an axon.

Bundles of nerve fibres form the cables of the nervous system, transmitting signals between the brain, spinal cord, and body.

The spelling fibre is British; Americans write nerve fiber.
