muntins
Window grid bars
Muntins are the strips of wood or metal that divide a window into smaller panes of glass.
In older windows, muntins were structural—each small pane was set separately into the grid.
Modern windows often have false muntins, decorative grids applied over a single large pane to mimic traditional styles: The colonial house had windows with six-over-six muntins.
