mainlander

Not an islander

A mainlander is someone from the mainland—the principal landmass of a country or region, as distinguished from its islands.

The term carries different weight depending on who uses it: Hawaiians referring to continental Americans, Hong Kongers speaking of those from the People's Republic, or islanders anywhere distinguishing themselves from their larger neighbor.

The mainlanders don't understand island life.
