Amphibious assault craft
A landing ship is a naval vessel designed to deliver troops, vehicles, and supplies directly onto a beach during amphibious assaults.
Unlike transport ships that require port facilities, landing ships have flat bottoms and bow doors or ramps that allow tanks and personnel to disembark directly onto shore: The landing ships approached the beach at dawn.
