Defensive wagon ring
A laager is a defensive encampment formed by circling wagons, historically used by South African settlers against attack.
The term extends to any defensive formation or entrenched position: The committee retreated into a laager, refusing to consider outside opinions.
As a verb, to laager is to form such a circle or to adopt a defensive posture.
