Small crested songbird
A kinglet is a very small songbird of the genus *Regulus*, typically olive-gray with a brightly colored crown patch—hence the name, meaning "little king." The ruby-crowned and golden-crowned kinglets are common in North America.
Separately, kinglet is a dismissive term for a minor or insignificant king, ruler of a petty domain: some kinglet of a tiny principality.
