A gray jay is a North American bird of the crow family, found in boreal forests from Alaska to Newfoundland.
It has fluffy gray plumage, a pale face, and a dark cap.
Gray jays are notably bold around humans, readily approaching campsites to steal food—earning nicknames like camp robber and whiskey jack.
