dawn chorus
Morning bird concert
The dawn chorus is the collective singing of birds at daybreak, when many species vocalize simultaneously in the hour before and after sunrise.
The phenomenon peaks during breeding season, when males establish territory and attract mates.
The term extends metaphorically to any cacophony of sounds greeting the morning: The dawn chorus of car alarms woke me at five.
