joint lock

Limb control technique

A joint lock is a grappling technique that hyperextends or twists an opponent's joint—elbow, shoulder, wrist, knee, ankle—past its normal range of motion, causing pain and forcing submission.

Joint locks are fundamental to wrestling, judo, jiu-jitsu, and mixed martial arts: He tapped out when she applied a joint lock to his elbow.

The technique controls an opponent without strikes.
