tap out
Signal submission physically
Tap out has two main clusters of meaning.
In combat sports, to tap out is to signal surrender by tapping the mat or opponent—conceding defeat: He was caught in an armbar and had to tap out.
This extends to any situation where someone quits or admits they've had enough: I'm tapping out after this last drink.
Separately, tap out means to deplete resources completely: I'm tapped out after paying rent.
