British lunch slang
Sambo has two distinct meanings.
One is a Russian martial art combining judo and wrestling techniques, developed for Soviet military and police training: She earned her black belt in sambo.
The other is a deeply offensive racial slur for a Black person, derived from a stock character depicting Black people as childlike and subservient.
The slur is taboo; the martial art is neutral.
