jarhead

Leatherneck, less formally

Jarhead is slang for a U.S.

Marine, referring to the high-and-tight haircut that makes the head resemble a jar.

Originally mildly derogatory when used by other military branches, Marines have largely embraced the term: Once a jarhead, always a jarhead.

The word suggests toughness and esprit de corps rather than insult.
