intersexuality
Between male, female
Intersexuality is the condition of being born with reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn't fit typical definitions of male or female.
This includes variations in chromosomes, hormones, genitalia, or internal organs.
The term has largely been replaced in medical contexts by "differences of sex development" (DSD), though many intersex people reject that framing.
Intersexuality occurs in roughly 1-2% of births, depending on how broadly it's defined.
