index page
Where topics hide
An index page is the default or main page of a website, the one that loads when you visit a domain without specifying a particular file: The index page welcomes visitors and links to other sections.
In web development, it's typically named index.html or index.php.
The term also applies to a book's page listing topics alphabetically with page numbers, though that's usually just called an index.
