indexer
Back-matter compiler
An indexer is a person or program that creates an index—an alphabetized or organized list of topics, names, or terms with their locations in a text.
Book indexers compile the entries found at the back of nonfiction works.
In computing, indexers are programs that scan and catalog content for searchable databases: Search engines use indexers to crawl websites.
