in-season

At peak availability

In-season describes produce, seafood, or other foods available at their natural peak—harvested locally during the time of year when they grow best.

In-season tomatoes taste better and cost less than those shipped from distant greenhouses in winter.

The term also applies to sports: The team trains harder during the in-season months.

The opposite is out-of-season.
