iguanodons

Thumb-spiked reptiles

Iguanodons are large plant-eating dinosaurs that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, notable for their distinctive thumb spikes and ability to walk on two or four legs.

The name means "iguana tooth," from the resemblance of their teeth to those of modern iguanas.

Among the first dinosaurs ever identified, they remain icons of paleontology.
