hundred court
Medieval administrative division
A hundred court was a local judicial assembly in medieval England that handled minor disputes and administrative matters within a hundred—a subdivision of a county.
These courts met regularly to settle land disputes, collect taxes, and maintain order among freemen.
The institution declined after the Norman Conquest as royal courts absorbed their functions.
