Punnett square
Allele crossing chart
A Punnett square is a diagram used in genetics to predict the possible combinations of alleles that offspring might inherit from their parents.
Named after British geneticist Reginald Punnett, it arranges one parent's possible genetic contributions along the top and the other's along the side, with the squares showing all potential outcomes.
The Punnett square showed a 25% chance the child would have blue eyes.
It remains a standard teaching tool in introductory biology courses.
