A headblock is the mounting assembly at the top of an oil derrick that holds the crown block and sheaves through which drilling cable runs.
In sawmill terminology, a headblock is the heavy framework that secures and positions a log for cutting: The sawyer adjusted the headblock before the first pass.
Railroad headblocks are the end supports of a track switch.
