Head over heels
A somersault is a rolling movement where the body turns completely over, heels over head, either forward or backward.
Gymnasts and divers perform somersaults; children do them on lawns.
The word extends to any complete reversal: The stock market did a somersault.
As a verb, to somersault is to execute such a roll: She somersaulted across the mat.
