hammerhead shark
Wide-eyed ocean hunter
A hammerhead shark is a shark with a flattened, hammer-shaped head, its eyes and nostrils at opposite ends of the wide lateral extensions.
This distinctive structure gives the shark enhanced sensory range and maneuverability.
Several species exist, ranging from small to large, found in warm waters worldwide.
Often shortened to hammerhead: We spotted a hammerhead off the reef.
