bonnethead

Shovel-snouted shark

A bonnethead is a small shark found in warm Atlantic and Pacific coastal waters, named for its distinctive shovel-shaped head—a flattened, rounded extension that resembles a bonnet.

Unlike the pronounced lateral lobes of other hammerhead sharks, the bonnethead's head curves smoothly forward.

They typically grow to about four feet and feed primarily on crustaceans and small fish.
