greave
Warrior's shin protection
A greave is a piece of armor protecting the shin, worn from ancient times through the medieval period.
Greaves typically came in pairs and covered the front of the leg from knee to ankle: The knight fastened his greaves before donning his sabatons.
The word appears almost exclusively in historical or fantasy contexts.
