end zone

Scoring rectangle destination

The end zone is the area at each end of an American or Canadian football field where touchdowns are scored.

A player must carry, catch, or recover the ball in the opponent's end zone to score.

The term extends to any goal area or destination: We're in the end zone now—just need to close the deal.
