frag

Explosive military slang

Frag originated in military slang for killing a fellow soldier, especially an unpopular officer, typically with a fragmentation grenade.

The term gained wider use in first-person shooter video games, where a frag is a kill of another player: I got twelve frags that round.

To frag is to score such a kill.

The gaming sense has largely overtaken the military one.
