LAN party
Networked gaming event
A LAN party is a gathering where people bring their own computers to a shared location and connect them via a local area network to play multiplayer video games together.
Popular from the 1990s through early 2000s before widespread high-speed internet, LAN parties offered lag-free gaming and the social experience of competing or cooperating in the same physical space.
We hauled our desktop rigs to Jake's basement for an all-night LAN party.
Though less common now, they persist as nostalgic social events among gaming communities.
