rocket jump
Blast-propelled ascent
A rocket jump is a video game maneuver where a player fires an explosive weapon at their own feet while jumping, using the blast to launch themselves higher or farther than normally possible.
Originated in first-person shooters like *Quake* and *Team Fortress*, it trades health for mobility: I rocket jumped to the upper platform before they could react.
The technique requires precise timing and has become a staple of competitive play and speedrunning.
