incisor

Front biting tooth

An incisor is one of the flat-edged front teeth used for cutting and biting food.

Humans have eight incisors—four upper and four lower—positioned at the front of the mouth.

The word distinguishes these cutting teeth from canines (for tearing) and molars (for grinding).
