civet
Nocturnal musk producer
A civet is a catlike mammal native to Africa and Asia, with a long body, spotted or striped fur, and scent glands that produce a musky secretion.
This secretion, also called civet, was historically prized in perfumery as a fixative.
Civet coffee (kopi luwak) comes from beans that have passed through an Asian palm civet's digestive tract.
