filmless

Lacking physical negatives

Filmless describes cameras or photography that doesn't use traditional photographic film—that is, digital imaging.

The term emerged during the transition from film to digital photography in the 1990s and early 2000s: a filmless camera, the filmless future of photography.

Now that digital photography dominates, the word appears less frequently since filmless has become the default.
