Unprocessed image data

RAW is a digital image file format that preserves all data captured by a camera sensor without compression or processing.

Professional photographers shoot in RAW to retain maximum control during editing: I always shoot RAW so I can adjust exposure later.

The format requires specialized software to view and convert. (Lowercase raw means unprocessed or uncooked.)
