fanzines
Devotees' DIY periodicals
Fanzines are amateur publications created by enthusiasts of a particular subject, typically science fiction, music, comics, or sports.
The term blends "fan" and "magazine," and the format emerged in the 1930s among science fiction communities before spreading to punk rock and other subcultures.
Unlike professional publications, fanzines are usually photocopied or cheaply printed, distributed informally, and produced for passion rather than profit.
She discovered several rare punk fanzines at the record shop.
