fanworks

Unofficial derivative art

Fanworks are creative works produced by fans based on existing media—fiction, art, videos, music, or other content inspired by books, films, TV shows, games, or celebrities.

The term encompasses fanfiction, fan art, fan videos, and similar amateur productions: She posted her fanworks on Archive of Our Own.

Fanworks exist in a legal gray area regarding copyright but thrive in online fan communities.
