electroless plating
Autocatalytic metal deposition
Electroless plating is a method of depositing metal onto a surface without using an electric current, relying instead on a chemical reaction between the object and a solution containing metal ions.
Unlike electroplating, which requires the object to conduct electricity and be connected to a power source, electroless plating can coat non-conductive materials like plastics and ceramics.
The process produces uniform coatings even on complex shapes with recesses and holes.
The plastic housing was given a metallic finish through electroless plating.
