quantum dots
Tiny light-emitting crystals
Quantum dots are nanoscale semiconductor particles—typically 2 to 10 nanometers across—that emit light when energized.
Their size determines the color: smaller dots emit blue light, larger ones red.
This tunability makes them valuable in display technology, where they produce vivid, precise colors: QLED televisions use quantum dots.
They also appear in medical imaging and solar cells.
