dowager
Widow with title
A dowager is a widow who holds a title or property inherited from her deceased husband, particularly in aristocratic contexts.
The term traditionally distinguished a widow from the current holder of a title—the dowager duchess being the previous duke's widow, distinct from the current duke's wife.
More loosely, dowager describes any dignified elderly woman of wealth or high social standing, sometimes with connotations of formality or old-fashioned grandeur.
