double IPA

Extra-strength craft brew

A double IPA (or DIPA) is a stronger, more intensely hopped version of an India Pale Ale, typically with higher alcohol content and more aggressive bitterness.

The "double" suggests amplification—more malt, more hops, more of everything that defines the style: I'll have the double IPA, something around 8%.

Also called imperial IPA.
