all-grain
No extract shortcuts
All-grain describes a brewing method that uses only malted grains as the source of fermentable sugars, rather than supplementing with malt extracts.
It's the traditional approach requiring more equipment and skill: I switched to all-grain brewing last year.
Home brewers often progress from extract brewing to all-grain as they gain experience.
