dodo
Gone Mauritian fowl
A dodo was a large flightless bird native to Mauritius, hunted to extinction by the late 17th century.
The dodo's inability to fly or flee made it easy prey, and it has become a symbol of obsolescence and extinction.
To call someone a dodo is to call them stupid or hopelessly out of touch: Don't be a dodo.
The phrase dead as a dodo means completely extinct or defunct.
