dodoes

Mauritius's lost birds

Dodoes is the plural of dodo, the extinct flightless bird of Mauritius, hunted to extinction by the late 17th century.

The dodo survives as a symbol of obsolescence and stupidity—to call someone a dodo is to call them dim-witted or hopelessly behind the times: Those old dodoes in management won't approve anything new.

The alternate plural is dodos.
