deckhouse
Shelter above deck
A deckhouse is a small enclosed structure built on the deck of a ship, providing shelter or living quarters above the main hull.
It typically houses the wheelhouse, cabins, or other operational spaces: The captain retreated to the deckhouse during the storm.
Unlike below-deck compartments, a deckhouse sits exposed on the open deck.
