decade
Century's tenth part
A decade is a period of ten years and is most typically used to refer to a period of time that begins with a year ending in zero and ends with a year ending in nine.
Decade is also used to refer to a person’s age in the same way that century is used to refer to a person’s age when they are over 100.
If someone is in their fifth decade, they are in their forties.
Decade is also used to refer to any ten-year period in someone’s life: The two decades between the time I graduated from college and my retirement were the most productive of my life.
