death angel
Lethal white mushroom
Death angel is a name for the destroying angel, any of several deadly white mushrooms in the genus *Amanita*.
These fungi cause most fatal mushroom poisonings worldwide—innocent-looking but lethal: Foragers mistake death angels for edible species every year.
The term also appears for a person who kills systematically, especially a nurse or caregiver who murders patients: The death angel worked the night shift for years before anyone suspected.
