dashcam

Car video recorder

A dashcam is a small video camera mounted on a vehicle's dashboard or windshield that continuously records the view through the front (and sometimes rear) window.

Originally popular among Russian drivers for insurance documentation, dashcams have spread globally for recording accidents, police encounters, and unexpected road incidents: The dashcam footage proved the other driver ran the red light.
