Hidden nursery recorder
A nannycam is a hidden camera used to monitor a caregiver's behavior with children, typically concealed in an ordinary household object like a teddy bear or clock.
The term combines nanny with camera and emerged in the 1990s as home surveillance technology became affordable.
Though originally meant for watching babysitters, nannycam now refers more broadly to any covert home monitoring device.
We installed a nannycam after noticing bruises on our toddler.
