cold sore
Fever blister, basically
A cold sore is a small, painful blister that forms on or near the lips, caused by the herpes simplex virus.
Cold sores are contagious and tend to recur, often triggered by stress, illness, or sun exposure: I always get a cold sore when I'm run down.
Also called a fever blister.
