cold sores
Lip herpes outbreaks
Cold sores are small, painful blisters that appear on or around the lips, caused by the herpes simplex virus.
They're contagious and tend to recur, often triggered by stress, illness, or sun exposure.
The term is sometimes used loosely for any sore near the mouth: I woke up with a cold sore.
